Diabetes has become a very serious health concern. Lions’ work to prevent and reduce the impact of diabetes as a public health concern is more important than ever. The Saratoga Springs Lions Club is stepping up it’s efforts to both educate and treat people who are impacted by this disease.
Diabetes, if undetected or untreated, can cause kidney damage, cardiovascular disease, and nerve damage, including diabetic retinopathy, which is damage to the eyes that can lead to blindness. It can even cause death.
Diabetes is the leading cause of new blindness around the world.
